The Northern Lights and Southern Lights are the results of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with the charged particles of the Sun’s atmosphere. Colors change depends on the type of particle colliding.

The best place to see Northern Lights in Alaska and to see southern lights is Wilsons Promontory and Cockle Creek The scientific name of Northern lights is “Aurora Borealis” and Southern lights are called “Aurora Australis”.

The best time to visit Northern Lights is late August/September through the beginning of April. The Northern Lights are unpredictable. A dark and clear night is required to see the Northern Lights.
